  • Recall the first-time applicant process
  • Plan for recurrent training
01

What Part 107 does

Part 107 is the FAA rule for operating small unmanned aircraft systems for non-recreational purposes. The Remote Pilot Certificate shows that the pilot understands the regulations, operating requirements, and procedures needed to fly safely.

02

First-time pilot pathway

A first-time applicant creates an IACRA profile, obtains an FAA Tracking Number, schedules the UAG knowledge test, passes the test, and submits Form 8710-13 in IACRA.

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Read, speak, write, and understand English
  • Be physically and mentally able to operate safely
  • Carry or have the certificate readily accessible during operations
03

Staying current

Certificate holders must complete the applicable FAA online recurrent training within the previous 24 calendar months before operating under Part 107. Always verify the current course and process on FAA.gov.
