THE CURRICULUM

Knowledge for the test.
Habits for the field.

The certificate is the beginning. We teach the aeronautical foundation and the repeatable operating discipline that clients, crews, and communities expect.

01GROUND

Airspace & regulations

Read sectional charts, recognize controlled airspace, plan authorizations, and understand the privileges and limits of Part 107.

02WEATHER

Weather & performance

Decode aviation weather, anticipate wind and density-altitude effects, and make performance decisions before launch.

03FLIGHT

Crew & aircraft

Build disciplined preflight, maintenance, communication, crew-resource, and emergency-response habits.

04MISSION

Operational judgment

Turn a certificate into a professional workflow for public safety, inspection, mapping, media, and field operations.

YOUR ROUTE TO THE CERTIFICATE

From curious
to cleared.

We organize the process into a practical flight plan, aligned to current FAA guidance for first-time remote pilots.

  1. 01

    Build your knowledge

Work through the regulations, airspace, weather, loading, operations, and decision-making tested on the UAG exam.

  2. 02

    Pass the FAA exam

Create an IACRA profile, receive your FAA Tracking Number, and schedule the UAG knowledge test at an approved center.

  3. 03

    Apply in IACRA

Submit FAA Form 8710-13 after passing. Once the security review is complete, follow the FAA instructions for your certificate.

  4. 04

    Train beyond the test

Practice mission planning, crew coordination, risk management, and repeatable aircraft procedures with an aviation mindset.

PART61FLIGHT SCHOOL

THE AVIATION BRIDGE

Your drone can hover.
Your career doesn’t have to.

Remote-pilot training introduces the language and judgment of aviation. Our Part 61 flight-school pathway lets you carry that foundation into the cockpit—with instructors, real aircraft, and a clear next rating to pursue.

Public-safety thinking changes the way you prepare, communicate, and respond.

WHY VOES

Built around the mission.

Virginia Office of Emergency Services is a private, independent OGA/NGO serving public-safety and operational needs—including emergency-resource support and fire-apparatus rental. That mission mindset shapes our approach to remote aviation: plan carefully, brief clearly, and always leave yourself an out.

Identity note: VOES is an independent organization and is not the Commonwealth of Virginia’s state emergency-management agency.
